Now that USC has parted ways with Matt Corral, the Trojan coaching staff is looking all over to find a quarterback for the 2018 class. That search is extending to every corner of the country and also locally. In fact, USC has already extended a scholarship offer to one quarterback in Southern California.

But that doesn't mean this search is anywhere close to being finished. Earlier this week, USC invited a different local four-star 2018 quarterback to campus. That prospect would be Brevin White from Paraclete HS in Lancaster, Calif.

"I just went, they held a little private camp," White said of USC. "It was a couple days ago, on Monday, that I attended. They reached out and wanted me to go. I was one of three quarterbacks there and I was the only upperclassman. So that was kind of encouraging. But I spent the whole day working with Coach Tyson Helton to kind of see how they do their thing over there with the quarterbacks. I dove into their offense."

The 6-foot-2 and 182-pounder says he throughly enjoyed his time at USC. And it seems that USC's coaches were also impressed with his ability.

"It was a fun day, I threw the ball pretty well and he texted me the next day," White said. "He said he'd be watching my film with the staff. And I just have to perform my senior season. Obviously they're kind of taking it a little slow with this whole 2018 class with who they're going to take and whatnot. I'm just being patient and keeping in touch with them. So we'll see what happens."

This private session with the USC coaches was very important. That's because USC's staff has a lot of catching up to do when it comes to evaluating White.

"I actually hadn't thrown for them, that staff," White said. "I threw for Coach (Steve) Sarkisian, when he was still the head coach. He watched me but both of the Helton coaches didn't see me throw. So it was good to get out in front of them for the first time. Coach (Tee) Martin has been around my high school camp. So I'd check in. But they all said they were impressed with the way I threw it. Obviously there's a couple of guys who they're looking at to fill that 2018 spot. They said I'm on that list. So it was a pretty encouraging day at that camp."

So after his impressive showing, could a scholarship offer from USC be close? White has a feeling that it could be.

"I don't know how close but I feel like it could be relatively closer than I think maybe," White said. "It kind of all depends. There's a coupe other quarterbacks that they're looking at and who are getting ready to commit relatively soon. And USC, they don't have any offers out to those guys. So I think they're taking it a little slower in their approach with this whole recruiting thing and I'm fine with that. And I do think getting to talk to them and throw with them was a good, progressive step in the recruiting process. We'll see. We'll see what happens. I don't really know but I'm definitely hopeful for the future."

And if USC did pursue White, he says the Trojans would be one of his top choices.

"They would be right at the top," White said when asked where USC would stand if he had the offer. "They would definitely be right at the top."

But he's staying patient before he makes any sort of commitment.

"I'm still kind of feeling things out a little bit," White said. "I'm waiting for the fit, the place that I just can't get away from. I thought I was going to be close to a commitment. But after talking to my parents and stuff, I just took a step back a little bit. I'm not rushing it. I'm just waiting for the right fit and the right opportunity. And then I'll pul the trigger when I feel it's the right time to."

White will admit though that some of his patience has to do with USC just starting showing interest.

"Yeah I'd say so," White said when asked if he was waiting on USC before making a commitment. "SC is just a hard place to turn down if the opportunity came around. It's a great school and obviously the football program speaks for itself. And also, it's close to home. The parents would kind of be on board for that. It is a waiting game, so I don't have a problem with being patient. I don't really want to go through my whole senior season without being committed, so I'm hoping within the next month or relatively at the start of the season. But everything has to fall into place."

He's also waiting to see a few more schools outside the West Coast.

"I might be making an East Coast swing the next month of July, checking out Auburn and Penn State," White said. "Those might be a couple visits I make."
