Wilson is a Trojan

Saint Augustine (Fla.) Nease offensive guard James Wilson played king for a day. In front of local reporters and Rivals.com AMP, King James ended the recruiting process by announcing he was turning in his crown for a Trojan sword.
Selecting USC over traditional rival Notre Dame, Wilson becomes the ninth public commitment in the Trojans' class of 2007. The 6-foot-4, 308-pound four-star lineman announced his decision at 12:00 p.m. today, but his commitment was made earlier this summer.

After attending USC's Rising Senior Camp and spending two weeks in Southern California with his father, James Sr., Wilson knew he could make the transition to living on the West Coast.
Today, he made it official.
"I want to announce that I'm going to be attending the University of Southern California next fall," said Wilson in front of a large crowd of local media at Bogey's Bar and Grill.
Wilson has always planned on making an early commitment. And after receiving scholarship offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida, Florida, State, Miami and Ohio State, Wilson knew the recruiting process could get out of control without an early focus on a limited number of schools.
"First, I want to thank all the schools who recruited me," said Wilson. "I was given a great opportunity, but I knew I had to focus. I didn't want thing to get crazy, so I planned on cutting my list to two or three over the spring."
Wilson – rated as the nation's No. 2 guard prospect – becomes the second offensive lineman to give the Trojans a verbal commitment this year. In April, Huntington Beach (Calif.) Edison offensive tackle Martin Coleman made an early pledge to the Trojans.
Wilson's decision was made with several factors in mind.
"I loved the atmosphere at USC and the enthusiasm of the coaching staff," said Wilson. "Education was also another important factor in my decision, and SC is a great school for academics.
"I want to major in business and their business school is one of the best in the country."
As a side note, Wilson also becomes the third Colorado lineman to commit to USC under Pete Carroll.
While the Florida all-state selection plays his high school football in Jacksonville, Wilson, like Butch Lewis and Jeff Byers is originally from Colorado.
