While most programs are already focused on the next recruiting class, there are still some big names available in the current one. Former St. John's signee Brandon Gardner was committed to the Red Storm for 10 months.
Once the coaching change happened at the school, with Mike Anderson being fired in favor of Rick Pitino, the 6-foot-7 forward ultimately decided to back away from his commitment and was granted a release from a National Letter of Intent he signed in the fall.
In the time since then, the four-star prospect says three dozen schools entered the picture looking to earn his commitment.
USC has emerged as one of those options, and the Trojans hosted the 2023 Mr. New York State Basketball for an official visit that wrapped up Thursday.
"It was a great experience," Gardner said of his trip to Los Angeles. "This is my second time ever in California. I took the visit because I feel wanted. I feel like I could help USC become a better team. I can impact winning. I would get developed at USC."
