Griffin chooses USC on NSD

After being committed to UCLA and flirting with a few SEC schools, five-star cornerback Olaijah Griffin eventually committed to USC on National Signing Day.

Griffin's commitment ceremony on ESPN2 featured balloons, confetti, a few celebrities and most importantly, his family. Family is the reason the product of Mission Viejo, Calif. HS says he decided to stay at home in Southern California for college.

"Because I've been playing in California all my life," Griffin said on ESPN2's National Signing Day Special when asked why he chose USC over Alabama, Tennessee, UCLA and others. "My family's been coming out to see me play and I think it would be big for all my family to come see me play and for my grandpa to come see me play."

That criteria would narrow the choices down to the two Los Angeles schools. Griffin says he chose USC because of the Trojan coaching staff.

"From the start," I was always in love with USC," Griffin said. "After talking to Coach (Clay) Helton and the coaching staff, I fell in love and made my decision."

The 6-foot and 172-pounder is one of six Rivals100 prospects to sign with USC so far in 2018.
