The magic runs out for USC in 31-24 Pac-12 championship loss to Oregon

USC found itself in an all-too-familiar jam Friday night, down two touchdowns in the fourth quarter of the Pac-12 championship game vs. Oregon.

Again, the Trojans mounted a rally -- two fourth-down conversions and a Kedon Slovis touchdown to Bru McCoy with 6:16 left to make it a one-score game. A quick three-and-out from the defense to give the offense a chance to pull off another stunner.

But the magic had run out. Slovis tried to throw the ball away while under pressure and he didn't throw it far enough to the sideline, as safety Jamal Hill was awarded an interception upon replay review. USC would get the ball back once more, but Slovis' final hope for a Hail Mary was thwarted again by the Ducks' pressure and never got downfield.

Oregon ended USC's run of dramatic comebacks while dealing the Trojans a deflating defeat on their home field for the second year in a row, winning 31-24 to claim the Pac-12 championship and deal USC (5-1) its first loss.
