Former USC outside linebacker Abdul-Malik McClain has transferred to Jackson State about a week after entering the NCAA Transfer Portal, his mother Shan McClain announced in a tweet.
McClain had played just 7 snaps on defense for USC this season as a redshirt sophomore, while stuck behind outside linebackers Drake Jackson and Hunter Echols.
Also, though, his family has been embroiled in a standoff with USC over the suspension of younger brother Munir McClain, a sophomore receiver. The younger McClain was suspended by the university for as he became involved in some capacity in a federal investigation regarding Pandemic Unemployment Assistance benefits. His mother stated in a tweet that a USC walk-on football player had accused Munir of stealing his identify to file a false EDD claim. The family has been publicly vocal in their frustration over the matter. (Read more here).
Munir McClain briefly entered the transfer portal last week as well before being removed soon thereafter. His future at USC is not clear at this point.
