It was just a few weeks ago that Olaijah Griffin was fully cleared from two offseason shoulder surgeries that kept him off the football field for the entire winter and spring. He declared at the time that he was ready to "take over."
A bold proclamation, sure. But as we learned from his father decades ago, the G-Child's talk isn't cheap. Training camp isn't even a week old, yet Griffin is taking and taking and taking (and taking and taking).
The sophomore cornerback recorded his fourth and fifth interceptions during Wednesday's practice, USC's first in full pads and fifth overall.
"He's got good energy and I don't want to stop it," DBs coach Greg Burns said.
Defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast, who didn't mind dubbing him the most talented corner on the team a few months back, said Griffin's work ethic has set him up for success this fall.

"He was real diligent in his rehab," Pendergast said, estimating the 6-foot corner is up to about 180 pounds. "You can see his body really changed over the summer with the work that he's done. He's made a lot of plays for us. He's a very instinctive corner. ...
"Most importantly, he's been very consistent out here."
